Janet from Santa Barbara, CA, asked:
Hi Julie,
If anyone can help, I know you can.
My 11-year-old granddaughter has had a phobia of flying bugs for several years. If one gets anywhere near her, she immediately goes into a state of panic. She’s been getting some therapy to help with the fear, but I’m curious whether it could be connected to a past-life experience.
It breaks my heart to see how frightened she becomes. No matter how much we try to comfort and reassure her, she can’t seem to understand where the fear is coming from or control her reaction.
You’re the best, Julie, and as one of your AAT grads, I’m hoping you might be able to see something I can’t.
Thanks,
Janet
Hi Janet,
Thanks for your question about whether a past life could be contributing to your granddaughter’s fear of flying bugs. It’s something a lot of parents and grandparents wonder about when a child has an intense fear that doesn’t seem to have an obvious cause.
When I asked Spirit if your granddaughter has had a past life contributing to her fear of bugs, I got a resounding YES!
I was shown the year 1792 in Williamsburg, Virginia, when massive swarms of cicadas, often called “locusts” were everywhere. In that lifetime, your granddaughter was a seven-year-old boy named Tom who lived and worked on his family’s farm. Imagine being a little child surrounded by enormous swarms of big, loud, flying insects. No wonder she’s scared!
Interestingly, historical records from the University of Virginia describe a massive emergence of periodical cicadas across Virginia in 1792. Early European settlers often called cicadas “locusts” because the sheer number of insects reminded them of biblical plagues. These harmless but extremely loud insects could blanket trees, orchards, and wooded areas during an emergence.
Please consider talking with your granddaughter about past lives and how experiences from them may influence our fears and beliefs in this lifetime. An easy, gentle way to begin the conversation is by reading my Angel Messages® children’s books with her, particularly Angel Messages for Truth. In it, I tell the story of a little girl who is afraid of spiders.
Perhaps understanding where her fear may have originated will help her begin to release it.
Hope this helps!
Hugs,
Julie

That’s totally brilliant. I believe the sooner adults accept these realities the sooner we can help our children.
I believe children know stuff when they arrive and for a period of time until this life becomes more cemented. I clearly remember as a 3yr old wondering who “these people” were and why I had been left with them. For my early childhood years I wanted to be brought up in a native American village. I am not American, but from Aotearoa (NZ) and not indigenous. I have checked my DNA and have no indigenous ancestry except for 1.5% Sardinian. The other 98.5% is English, Scottish, Irish, Danish, French. Still to this day, now aged 70, I have why I consider an “indigenous heart.”
Jetzt wäre interessant zu erfahren, wie die Geschichte weiterging bzw. weitergeht. ☺️ Ich hoffe, dass das Mädchen von ihrer Angst befreit wird! Viel Erfolg!
English Translation: It would be interesting to know how the story continued—or is continuing. ☺️ I hope the girl is freed from her fear! Good luck!
Thank you Julie! That makes so much sense to me.
