Susan from Darlington, County Durham, UK, asked:
Hello Julie,
Thank you for sharing your extraordinary gifts and for the comfort you bring to so many. Your words have been a beacon during a difficult time.
I began reading your blog when my beloved little dog, Coco, was diagnosed with lymphoma. She’s been my constant companion, and watching her health decline has been heartbreaking. I’m torn between wanting her to stay and not wanting her to suffer.
In searching for peace, I started learning about spirit guides—hoping to feel connected to Coco even after she transitions. One night, I asked my guide to show me a sign that they were near. I didn’t sense anything then, so I let it go.
But the next morning, something remarkable happened. A squirrel appeared right outside my window and buried a nut beneath the violas I’d just planted. It’s never happened before. I couldn’t help but wonder—was this a message from Spirit, a gentle affirmation that my guide truly is here with me?
Thank you for all that you do to help others find light, love, and meaning in life’s hardest moments.
With gratitude,
Susan
Hi Susan,
Thank you for your kind words and for sharing your story about the deep love you have for your Coco. Souls like hers choose us, and their bond with us continues long after their physical journey ends.
Yes, that squirrel was absolutely a sign from Spirit. Our guides and loved ones in Heaven often use nature to communicate with us. Animals, birds, trees, flowers, and even the wind carry messages of reassurance and love. Squirrels, in particular, symbolize trust, divine timing, preparation, and connection between realms. They appear to remind us that life flows in sacred rhythm and that we are never truly apart from those we love.
Your wish for a sign was fulfilled as Spirit responded the very next morning, not in words, but through a living messenger right outside your window. That’s how energy works.
When Coco transitions, she’ll simply shift from one form of energy to another, still near, still devoted, still joyfully connected to you. She’ll send you signs too, perhaps through a song, a scent, or another visit from nature. When those moments come, trust your first thought. That’s how Spirit speaks.
You are being guided through this with immense love, and the squirrel’s visit was Spirit’s gentle way of saying, “We’re here. You’re not alone.”
Hugs,
Julie
P.S. – This is the second time today Spirit has sent squirrels as a sign. Earlier, a squirrel appeared as a message from a husband in Heaven to my client, his wife.
