Spirits and Souls

Sheryl from Lewes, DE, asked:

Hi Julie,

I’ve been curious about this for a while and was hoping you could help clarify something for me: Is our spirit different from our soul?

Is the soul connected to the “All-Knowing” and the thread that weaves through all of our lifetimes? And is the spirit more aligned with our personality and life force in this current incarnation? Or, are they simply two words for the same thing?

Thank you for taking the time to answer my question.

Have a lovely day!

Sheryl

Hi Sheryl,

Great question, one I’ve been asked many times over the years.

While the terms spirit and soul are often used interchangeably, many spiritual, philosophical, and religious traditions distinguish between the two. Some believe the soul is the eternal essence of us that incarnates lifetime after lifetime to learn and evolve, while the spirit is the divine energy that animates both the body and the soul.

In my experience communicating with thousands of spirits over the years, I’ve found the term spirit most accurately describes the everlasting, immortal, fractal-of-the-Divine part of us that temporarily attaches to a body to have a human experience. The word soul, to me, carries more of a religious connotation, which is why I tend to use spirit when referring to a non-physical being that now exists as pure energy.

To explore further, I asked my main spirit guide, Pope Clement VI, if he had anything to add. In his usual humorous way, he quipped, “The Trinity is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—not Holy Soul!”

Looks like he also uses the term spirit to describe the eternal, non-physical essence of who we truly are, the part of us that lives on after bodily death and returns to Heaven.

Hugs,

Julie

  1. This is so enlightening! Julie, thank you for your insight. This questions is one I also wanted clarity on.

  2. Thanks Julie, for clarifying that question for all of us. I’ve been asked the same question but I’ve found that because of religious beliefs its difficult for some people to comprehend.

I feel closer to this explanation, although I would propose that one needs to cross over for an actual revelation of the truth?
