Your Intuition Knows

Caitlin from Gainesville, VA, asked:

Hi Julie,

I recently received the news from my biopsy that I have stage 0 ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) in my right breast. At my appointment, my doctor explained the treatment options: a lumpectomy with nipple removal followed by five sessions of radiation, or a mastectomy with reconstruction.

I’ve read so much about the negative effects of radiation and chemotherapy, and it’s left me feeling overwhelmed. I’m a single mom, 40 years old, with two young children who depend on me. The doctor recommends getting an MRI and scheduling surgery within the next six months.

In the meantime, I’ve been focusing on my healing, doing energy work, releasing old patterns, and working hard to shift my habits.

Thank you so much for your time.

God bless you.

Caitlin

Hi Caitlin,

Stage 0 ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) is often considered the earliest form of breast cancer and some experts even view it as a precancerous condition. The fact that it was caught early gives you time to breathe, gather information, and make empowered decisions.

You’re absolutely right to question and research your options. A recent study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) by Shelley Hwang, MD, vice chair of research at the Duke University Cancer Institute found that some women with DCIS who chose active surveillance (regular mammograms and close monitoring) had no greater risk of developing invasive cancer over two years than those who underwent surgery and radiation.

On the website, health.com, Marleen Meyers, MD, oncologist and director of the Perlmutter Cancer Center Survivorship Program at NYU Langone Health said, “I make sure to tell patients that, even though DCIS has the word ‘carcinoma’ in it, it’s not actually cancer.”

Whether you choose surgery, radiation, waiting, or another path, remember, this is your body, your journey, and your choice. Get a second opinion if you feel unsure. Ask your doctor about every option including the latest targeted therapies and less invasive interventions. You deserve clarity and peace before making any decision.

In the meantime, I did an energetic healing session with you. I watched (in my mind’s eye) the lesion get removed energetically, cleansed your lymphatic system (including the lymph nodes), facilitated a heavy metal detox, and initiated a DNA-level healing.

You’re already doing powerful work by shifting your habits and tuning into your spiritual path. Healing unfolds on many levels, and you are clearly moving through this with grace and strength. Trust your intuition, it’s one of your greatest allies.

Hugs,

Julie

  1. Hello,

    1. Hi Caitlin, as someone who had stage 4 cancer several years ago, I have to agree with Julie. You have plenty of time to watch, wait and make decisions. And I’m not accusing your doctor of anything, but remember, the industry is for profit.
If I were you, I would focus on loving your two beautiful kids, BUT also on self-love! It’s so powerful to have a self-love/self-care routine in place, and to honor your body and allow it to do what’s designed for- to heal.
I chose the chemo route (due to being in stage four), and all through the chemo I practiced self love techniques.
God designed our bodies, and under the right circumstances, it will heal!
So yes, keep an eye on it… and meanwhile, love on your kids, and do loving things for yourself (yoga, tai chi, meditation, walking in nature, swimming, gardening, etc), have compassion for your vessel, just like you would for your best friend if they needed love and compassion… and stay the course with your faith.
      Sending you so much love,
      Sharon
