Spirits

Autism, Ancestors, and Angels

Mary from Boston, MA, asked:

Hi Julie,

My 35-year-old daughter has autism as well as a profound intellectual disability and seems to also be able to sense spirits.

In the past few years, she has often spoken about my grandmother who died when she was 15 and has found comfort in having her picture nearby. In the past year, she has repeatedly asked to look at a picture of my former father-in-law who she did not know very well but remembers visiting as a young child. In addition, she seems reassured by seeing my father’s picture. He died about 12 years ago.

The week after my dad passed, I was with her and my friend at my home. As my daughter walked down the hallway on the way to her bedroom, she quickly stopped and gazed at a brick wall with a look of wonder and said to my friend and me, “Look, it’s Papa”! The wonder on her face was quite stunning – and she is not one to emote.

My spirit and intuition tell me my daughter has a large contingent of ancestors and angels with her at all times. What do you think?

With gratitude to you for sharing your gift with the world.

Mary

Hi Mary,

Your daughter’s journey is a testament to the profound connections that transcend language and understanding. It seems she shares a remarkable connection with the spiritual realm, a skill we all possess, and her interactions with ancestral figures demonstrate a depth of perception beyond words.

The way she seeks comfort from the presence of loved ones, both past and present, is a beautiful reminder of the spiritual bonds that guide her path and the spiritual support encircling her at all times.

Thank you for sharing this touching glimpse into your daughter’s world. It validates the universal truth that we are never truly alone on our journey, rather, all of us are surrounded by God, angels, spirit guides, our deceased loved ones and pets, and many others.

End-of-Life Review

Kerry-Anne from Hazelwood, MO, asked:

Hello Julie,

My dad hasn’t had the greatest year, health-wise. He’s struggling with colitis and recently diagnosed dementia (small vessel disease). He has a strong will to live and says he’s going to beat his illness and will be healthy again.

This afternoon, he came by my house to tell me about a vivid dream he had last night.  He rarely dreams, but said he was able to see and remember every detail of his life including every person’s name, every situation, things he long forgot, he was able to recall with incredible detail.

I asked him how he felt after his dream and he said incredible! He said he’s never had a dream like that and that it was neat to go back and revisit everything.

After about an hour, he left and I immediately felt emotional – happy and proud of the life he just described, but immensely sad to feel life without him.

Would you happen to have any insight into what stage my father is in, and if the dream he described was maybe a life review?

Thanks so much, many blessings to you,

Kerry-Anne

Hi Kerry- Anne,

Sure sounds like your dad witnessed what many Near-Death Experience (NDE) survivors call a life review.

And, it makes sense to me that your dad would have the opportunity to watch his life review as part of his end-of-life process.

To get more information for you, I energetically connected to you and from you to your dad.

He is currently in Phase 7 of the Twelve Phases of Transition® which means he’s surrounded by angels and the spirits of deceased loved ones and pets.

A free, downloadable, chart illustrating the Twelve Phases of Transition® can be found on my askjulieryan.com website.

People can move through the Phases quickly or take days, weeks, months, even years to pass. In addition, people can vacillate between Phases and even come completely out of them.

In his book Death is but a Dream, Christopher Kerr, MD, PhD, discusses how his university-based research shows 90% of people experience dreams and visits from deceased loved ones and pets at the end of their lives.

When our dying loved ones experience what could be called “spiritual” events, we often think they’re hallucinating. Be assured, they aren’t. Hallucinations are upsetting and these dreams and visits are comforting.

As you go through this process with your dad, do your best to focus on how heart-warming it must be for him to have begun these seemingly miraculous encounters as he prepares to transition.

For more information, please consider reading a copy of my Angelic Attendants: What Really Happens As We Transition From This Life Into The Next and then give it to your dad to read.

Hope you find my book comforting and enjoyable too!

Eternal Reflections: Insights Into the Afterlife

Rachel from Greencastle, PA, asked:

Hi Julie,

Can you tell me about my past lives? I need some type of proof to believe in reincarnation.

The idea of death terrifies me.

Can you help please?

Thanks,

Rachel

Hi Rachel,

Past lives are a fascinating topic and one I enjoy discussing.

Over several years, I’ve had the opportunity to do what I call a past life scan with thousands of clients where I’ve seen (in my mind’s eye) one of their most significant past lives.

During the session, I “get” (receive as a thought) information such as names, place, year, and details, which can later be validated and corroborated with historic documents online.

Then, we figure out how this past life information correlates with what’s happening in the person’s current life. It’s always helpful.

As for proof of past lives, many books are available on this topic. Perhaps my favorites are written by Brian Weiss, MD. Dr. Weiss is a highly respected psychiatrist who learned about past lives while hypnotizing a patient. His research is worth exploring.

Another suggestion is to delve into Near Death Experiences also known as NDEs. Raymond Moody, MD is one of the foremost experts in this field. I recently interviewed Dr. Moody on my show when he shared a lot of enlightening bits of information about NDEs and his research.

Lastly, with regard to being afraid of death and proof of an afterlife, please know, we’re all surrounded by angels and the spirits of deceased loved ones and pets as we’re dying and then when we get to Heaven. By the way, everyone goes to Heaven.

My book Angelic Attendants: What Really Happens As We Transition From This Life Into The Next details a process I call the Twelve Phases of Transition® and includes validating stories of families with whom I worked.

In addition, Christopher Kerr, MD, PhD, discusses his university-based research validating what I “see” from a spiritual perspective in his book Death Is But A Dream. Dr. Kerr and I had an enlightening discussion when was a guest on my show.

All these resources can help satisfy your curiosity about life after death.

Please consider scheduling an appointment with me and we’ll access YOUR past lives.

Transcending Mortality

Louise from Bothell, WA, asked:

Hi Julie,

I listened to a recent interview with you and Alex Ferrari and then bought your book, which I’m 50-ish pages into.

You say the dying person’s mother, father, angels, spirit guides of family members, etc., show up and surround the person just prior to their transition.

I’m curious why I’ve never heard this reported from the countless near-death (NDE) experiencers that I’ve heard over many years – on tv shows, in books, interviews, at IANDS meetings, etc.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Louise

Hi Louise,

What a great question!

It’s been my experience that we’re all surrounded by angels and the spirits of deceased loved ones and pets as we’re at the end of our lives and that’s what I describe in my Angelic Attendants: What Really Happens As We Transition From This Life Into The Next book.

I call this series of events the Twelve Phases of Transition® and it occurs with everyone regardless of whether a person’s death is instant like in the case of a homicide or suicide or whether it’s prolonged over days, weeks, months or years. The Twelve Phases add a glorious component to what can often be described as a heart wrenching experience, losing a loved one.

In his book Death Is But A Dream, Christopher Kerr, MD, PhD, discusses his university-based research in which 90% of patients saw deceased loved ones and pets either in dreams or visions as they were dying. And, critical care medical providers, hospice personnel, as well as funeral directors, family members, and others report the same.

So, you ask, why don’t people experiencing an NDE see the same configuration as the dying? After all, they too are experiencing a form of death temporary as it is.

Perhaps the Twelve Phases of Transition® are reserved for those who are actually dying.

Perhaps it’s just an EXPERIENCE of an aspect of death the NDE shows the person.

Perhaps the NDE is simply intended to broaden a person’s understanding of the afterlife and spirit world and enhance the rest of their human lives.

I believe my explanations are certainly feasible. Guess we’ll know for sure once we get to Heaven.

Nighttime Spirit Visitors

Mary Ann from Steamboat Springs, CO, asked:

Dear Julie,

My very good friend is experiencing nightly paranormal visits in his dreams and sometimes wake states.

He is at a loss where to turn. The situation is disturbing his sleep and is exhausting.

He has had a recent normal brain scan.

What is the best way to connect with you to see if you can be of help to this very kind man.

Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.

Mary Ann

Hi Mary Ann,

Sorry to hear your friend is missing out on sleep due to paranormal activity.

Spirits often visit us when we’re sleeping because it’s the easiest way to communicate with us.

It’s been my experience that everyone is made in the image and likeness of God in spirit and our natural vibrational state is extremely high.

When our spirits are attached to a body, it slows our vibration due to the body’s mass, and the various states of stress, fear, and negative emotions we experience throughout the day.

As we sleep, our bodies return to their pre-set, high vibrations, the vibration of spirit.

So, when our vibration is set to the spirit frequency, it opens a communication channel similar to a radio/tv station or two-way radio.

Since spirits are always a high vibration, they don’t communicate on the “I feel crappy” channels when we’re awake because the vibration is too low.

Furthermore, in his book Waking Up to the Dark, author Clark Strand discusses how, prior to the invention of electricity and the light bulb, all humans woke up during the night to communicate with spirit.

Now, having said all that, here are some suggestions for your friend:

– Before falling asleep, have him ask spirits to communicate with him after he’s rested, just before he wakes up.

– Have him learn how to control communicating with spirits while he’s awake. That way, his spirit posse can get information to him without disturbing his sleep.

– Ask him to consider taking one of my classes. In them, he’ll learn the spirit communication skills that will permit him to sleep like a baby!

How to Reconnect with Deceased Loved Ones

Lora from Coos Bay, OR, asked;

Hi Julie,

I lost my soul mom in 2019 and my soulmate in 2022.

I’ve had spiritual gifts off and on throughout my life and feel in order to heal, I need to find a way to reconnect with spirit and every other member of my soul tribe. I feel lost without them.

Any suggestions from them and you would be most helpful and welcomed.

Thanks.

Lora

Hi Lora,

That’s a lot of loss in a short period of time. My condolences.

The first step in spirit communication is to understand our heads are like big satellite dishes that transmit and receive frequencies and every spirit has a frequency they keep throughout all of their lifetimes.

So, the best way to connect with your deceased loved ones is to just think of them. That’ll tune your satellite dish head to their frequency. It’s like choosing a radio channel.

Then, say something either silently or aloud to them. Your loved one will answer you within a second or before and it’ll seem like a thought in your head. How you’ll know it’s from them is to pay attention to that first thought.

Spirits communicate in words, phrases, images, and symbols, so be open to your interpretation of the thoughts you receive.

For example, if you ask your mom for a sign she’s near, the answer you may receive is a yellow rose.

Be open to how and where you see a yellow rose. It could be in a garden, magazine, grocery store flower department, on a piece of jewelry someone wears, etc.

The applicability of a message from a loved one will always be predicated on how we ask a question so be specific.

To really sharpen your telepathic skills, enroll in one of my trainings. They both come with practice groups that let you continue to develop and enhance your abilities over time.

My Angels and Enlightenment Training is self-paced and online and my Angelic Attendant Training (AAT) is in-person over a weekend. The next AAT is in Atlanta, GA, November 3-5th. Come join us!

Dog Perceives Spirits

Sheree from Kilmore, Australia, asked:

Hi Julie,

A few things have been happening lately and I would like to know if it’s just my imagination or something more is going on.

My dog will run into my empty loungeroom and/or bedroom and just start barking randomly.

Then, just tonight while getting my son ready for bed, my car alarm started going off.

The car is in my locked garage, there was no one in there, and all doors leading outside are locked from the inside.

My dog was sitting at the garage door lightly whining just before the alarm started to go off.

Appreciate any insights you can share.

Thanks.

Sheree

Hi Sheree,

Sounds like you have some spirit activity happening in your world.

To get some information for you, I connected to you and scanned your home and garage.

I “saw” in my mind’s eye, the spirit of a large, sandy-haired man who appeared to be 6’3” and weighed around 230 pounds. He called himself Sam.

Sam was wearing a plaid cotton shirt, khaki slacks, and a light brown jacket.

I “saw” him get into your car and back a holographic image of it through your garage door, down the driveway, and into the street.

He told me he had to go pick up his daughter Layla at school.

He also told me he was a widower and a single dad. His wife Martha died from breast cancer.

I “got” the year was 1963.

Now, that’s a lot to unpack.

It’s possible Sam and his daughter at one time could have lived in your home, on your property, or in your neighborhood, and it’s probable your dog can perceive them. Animals often do.

This very real phenomenon, sometimes called an echo signal, is the detection of a transmission of an energy frequency, can be sound or light, that happened long ago and is still detectable. Think of a star in the night sky. The light emanating from a star we see today was most likely transmitted millions or perhaps billions of years ago. That’s what the term light years means.

Here in the United States, astrophysicists at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory use echo mapping to measure the distance of faraway planets and galaxies.

And, Jim Tucker, MD, a scientist in Perceptual Studies at the University of Virginia Medical School and his colleagues have extensive research about past lives and concurrent lifetimes happening simultaneously.

So, you’re not imagining things, your dog is very perceptive, and if you want Sam and his daughter Layla’s spirits to leave, just ask them to do so. Spirits will always honor and comply with our wishes.

Guardian Angel Visit

Elizabeth from St. Helens, England, asked:

Hi Julie,

After being admitted to hospital in August 2022, my partner of 23 years was diagnosed with a brain tumor. We were devastated! I went home alone and cried myself to sleep.

I don’t know how long I slept, but I awoke and immediately, the awful events of the day hit me again. I could feel the sadness welling up inside me and then I suddenly had this feeling of such peace, love, and contentment. I felt like I was in a cocoon of light, not bright light, more like candlelight. It felt like someone had wrapped their arms around me and was telling me all would be well! I knew my wonderful partner was going to die, but I knew he was going to be part of the love and peace that I was feeling at that moment!

Sadly, he passed in November 2022, but not before I told him about my experience. I knew he wasn’t afraid of death because he always believed there was more after we pass.

My partner knew I was telling him the truth and I believe my reinforcing his belief in an afterlife made his passing easier for us both! Was this my Guardian Angel?

Thanks,

Elizabeth

Hi Elizabeth,

Absolutely! What you felt at that moment of total despair was your Guardian Angel and “Spirit” in general comforting you.

As children, we’re taught that everything is made of energy, and when we grow up, that concept is broadened with atoms, electrons, and quantum physics concepts like quarks, fermions, hypothetical particles, etc.

Angels, Spirit Guides, deceased loved ones, etc., are all part of what I consider to be God/Source/Spirit, are all energy, and are designed to help us understand God from a human perspective.

I believe we’re not meant to figure out the science of Spirit, just a tiny bit of the concept. That’s why the Bible and many other religious texts are in parable or story form. It’s a way for people to grasp the God/Energy/Source concept.

The Bible (Genesis 1:27) says we’re made in the image and likeness of God. Although most of us think that means God looks like a human, I believe it means we’re made in the image and likeness of God in spirit/energy form.

Having said all that, Spirit communicates with us in a way we can fathom, normally in the form of visions, feelings, or senses.

Spirit often interacts with us in dreams or upon awakening. That’s because our vibrational level has reset to its normal, high frequency, pre-set point, that of Spirit. When we sleep, our brains rest and we get a break from our problems and busy thoughts allowing us to receive information on the spirit channel/frequency.

Your Angel visit was a beautiful gift and reminder that you (and all of us) are never alone. We’re always surrounded by the love of Spirit, however it appears to us.

For more information, please read my Angelic Attendants: What Really Happens As We Transition From This Life Into The Next book.

Did He Know He Was Dying?

Jan from Kilkenny, Ireland, asked:

Hi Julie,

I am American but I live in Ireland, where I met my partner, the love of my life, my heart, my home. If ever there was a definition of soulmates and kindred spirits, it was us.

In November, 2021, my love had what we thought was pneumonia, but he was young, strong, fit, and ignored it, said he felt fine, and wanted nothing to do with doctors.

I eventually got him seen and several different doctors confirmed a pneumonia diagnosis. Unfortunately, they were all wrong. Turns out he had a very rare form of lung cancer.

The doctors told me 80% of patients with this illness could be treated with molecular-targeted chemo. Again, they were mistaken and he died ten days later.

Can you tell me, when did his soul know he wasn’t going to make it, when did he consciously know, and how did I miss it?

He asked me if I thought he had cancer, and I said, “No, but you do have a very serious life-threatening illness”. I didn’t tell him when the test results came back. I was scared, I didn’t know what to do, I wanted us to hope.

Is he angry at me and will he ever forgive me for not telling him?

Thanks.

Jan

Hi Jan,

I’m so sorry to hear about your soulmate and extend my sincere condolences.

Please know, we all (that is, our spirits) decide when, where, how, and with whom we die. Ask any hospice or end-of-life medical provider or caregiver and they’ll have countless stories about a loved one or patient waiting until someone arrives or leaves before taking their last breath.

To get some answers to your questions, I first energetically connected to you and from you to your honey’s spirit. Here’s what he “told” me (telepathically) …

He said he consciously knew about a week before he passed that he was dying. He said his soul knew before his first symptoms appeared, and he said you weren’t supposed to know because he needed and wanted you right there with him.

As for him forgiving you, he said there wasn’t anything to forgive. He said until the end, you were the best partner he could’ve ever imagined.

He also wants you to know he’s always around you and suggests you keep a bouquet of yellow flowers to remind you of him. He showed me a vase of yellow daffodils in the spring, yellow iris and/or lilies in the summer, and yellow roses and silk flowers in the winter.

He was so specific about yellow flowers that I researched their symbolism. Among other things, yellow flowers are used to honor loved ones after they have passed. Thought that was spot on!

Although your love’s passing won’t ever make sense to you, I hope this information helps you heal.

Please consider reading my Angelic Attendants: What Really Happens As We Transition From This Life Into the Next book. I believe it will comfort you.
