Navigating Dreams of Grief

Melissa from Ogden, UT, asked:

Hi Julie,

Almost a year ago, my husband lost a lifelong friend to suicide.

This morning, he woke up disoriented, describing an overwhelming experience of vivid memories flooding his mind throughout the night. It’s as if he relived their entire 45 years of friendship in a continuous reel.

He’s shocked by this, and I’m worried about what it might mean.

Do you have any insight or advice?

Thank you,

Melissa

Hi Melissa,

I’m sorry to hear about your husband’s loss and the disconcerting experience he had last night.

It sounds like he may have experienced a phenomenon known as “dream replay” or “memory consolidation” where the brain processes and replays memories during sleep. Given the intensity and vividness of the memories, coupled with the recent anniversary of his friend’s passing, it’s understandable that this would be a powerful and overwhelming experience for him.

In addition, dreams can take us to unfamiliar realms and realities, sometimes beyond our human understanding. While dream messages may be positive, their interpretation can be unsettling when filtered through our human experiences. Considering your husband’s thoughts of his friend on the anniversary of his passing, I believe his dream offered closure and played a role in his grieving journey.

End-of-Life Review

Kerry-Anne from Hazelwood, MO, asked:

Hello Julie,

My dad hasn’t had the greatest year, health-wise. He’s struggling with colitis and recently diagnosed dementia (small vessel disease). He has a strong will to live and says he’s going to beat his illness and will be healthy again.

This afternoon, he came by my house to tell me about a vivid dream he had last night.  He rarely dreams, but said he was able to see and remember every detail of his life including every person’s name, every situation, things he long forgot, he was able to recall with incredible detail.

I asked him how he felt after his dream and he said incredible! He said he’s never had a dream like that and that it was neat to go back and revisit everything.

After about an hour, he left and I immediately felt emotional – happy and proud of the life he just described, but immensely sad to feel life without him.

Would you happen to have any insight into what stage my father is in, and if the dream he described was maybe a life review?

Thanks so much, many blessings to you,

Kerry-Anne

Hi Kerry- Anne,

Sure sounds like your dad witnessed what many Near-Death Experience (NDE) survivors call a life review.

And, it makes sense to me that your dad would have the opportunity to watch his life review as part of his end-of-life process.

To get more information for you, I energetically connected to you and from you to your dad.

He is currently in Phase 7 of the Twelve Phases of Transition® which means he’s surrounded by angels and the spirits of deceased loved ones and pets.

A free, downloadable, chart illustrating the Twelve Phases of Transition® can be found on my askjulieryan.com website.

People can move through the Phases quickly or take days, weeks, months, even years to pass. In addition, people can vacillate between Phases and even come completely out of them.

In his book Death is but a Dream, Christopher Kerr, MD, PhD, discusses how his university-based research shows 90% of people experience dreams and visits from deceased loved ones and pets at the end of their lives.

When our dying loved ones experience what could be called “spiritual” events, we often think they’re hallucinating. Be assured, they aren’t. Hallucinations are upsetting and these dreams and visits are comforting.

As you go through this process with your dad, do your best to focus on how heart-warming it must be for him to have begun these seemingly miraculous encounters as he prepares to transition.

For more information, please consider reading a copy of my Angelic Attendants: What Really Happens As We Transition From This Life Into The Next and then give it to your dad to read.

Hope you find my book comforting and enjoyable too!

Eternal Reflections: Insights Into the Afterlife

Rachel from Greencastle, PA, asked:

Hi Julie,

Can you tell me about my past lives? I need some type of proof to believe in reincarnation.

The idea of death terrifies me.

Can you help please?

Thanks,

Rachel

Hi Rachel,

Past lives are a fascinating topic and one I enjoy discussing.

Over several years, I’ve had the opportunity to do what I call a past life scan with thousands of clients where I’ve seen (in my mind’s eye) one of their most significant past lives.

During the session, I “get” (receive as a thought) information such as names, place, year, and details, which can later be validated and corroborated with historic documents online.

Then, we figure out how this past life information correlates with what’s happening in the person’s current life. It’s always helpful.

As for proof of past lives, many books are available on this topic. Perhaps my favorites are written by Brian Weiss, MD. Dr. Weiss is a highly respected psychiatrist who learned about past lives while hypnotizing a patient. His research is worth exploring.

Another suggestion is to delve into Near Death Experiences also known as NDEs. Raymond Moody, MD is one of the foremost experts in this field. I recently interviewed Dr. Moody on my show when he shared a lot of enlightening bits of information about NDEs and his research.

Lastly, with regard to being afraid of death and proof of an afterlife, please know, we’re all surrounded by angels and the spirits of deceased loved ones and pets as we’re dying and then when we get to Heaven. By the way, everyone goes to Heaven.

My book Angelic Attendants: What Really Happens As We Transition From This Life Into The Next details a process I call the Twelve Phases of Transition® and includes validating stories of families with whom I worked.

In addition, Christopher Kerr, MD, PhD, discusses his university-based research validating what I “see” from a spiritual perspective in his book Death Is But A Dream. Dr. Kerr and I had an enlightening discussion when was a guest on my show.

All these resources can help satisfy your curiosity about life after death.

Please consider scheduling an appointment with me and we’ll access YOUR past lives.

Guardian Angels and the Journey to the Afterlife

Bev from Grandville, MI, asked:

Hi Julie,

I recently discovered you through a friend and I’m intrigued.

I was raised in a denomination that didn’t allow these kinds of spiritual beliefs but working as a hospice nurse has changed my mind.

I’ve been present for uncountable deaths. Some are easy and peaceful while others are long and extremely hard.

I’ve seen patients look at things, talk to things, rock babies, pet animals. I’ve told so many families I’m envious of their gift. I’d love to see it with them. Is it something that can be learned? I also want to see/meet my angel! So many questions.

I am 72 and plan to continue as a nurse as long as I can. I truly love hospice.

Thanks for any insight and direction you may have.

Blessings,

Bev

Hi Bev,

Thanks for your note and thanks for your service as a hospice nurse.

University-based research shows close to 90% of people see the spirits of deceased loved ones and pets at the end of their lives but then you and all who work in critical care, hospice, and as funeral directors already know that.

It’s what I discuss in my Angelic Attendants: What Really Happens As We Transition From This Life Into The Next book.

We’re all born with intuitive abilities. Our heads act like a big satellite dish and can receive and send frequencies and every spirit has its own frequency. So, in order to meet and see your Guardian Angel, simply ask what they call themselves. You can either do that aloud or in your mind.

Their answer will instantly come in like a thought in your head as fast as you can snap your fingers. If you think about the answer for more than a second, that’ll be your brain talking to you.

Then, once you have a name, just think of them and say something. Their answer will always instantly come into your head.

Initially, it may feel like you’re imaging your angel’s response and the more you talk with them, the more validation you’ll get and that’ll help you trust the information you receive.

You may also want to take my Angels and Enlightenment Training. It’s a self-paced, online course with live practice groups. It’ll help you quickly become proficient with the intuitive abilities we all possess.

Animals Choose a Mission

Sara from Efrat, Israel, asked:

Hi Julie,

I listened to your fascinating interview with Alex Ferrari.

One of the things I’ve been wondering about is animal spirits.

I’ve heard from various mediums I’ve listened to about our pets that transcend to the other side.

What about all the poor slaughtered animals for the food and fur industries? Do they transcend to an afterlife?

Thank you. You are doing wonderful work!

Sara

Hi Sara,

What a great question, one I hadn’t ever thought of.

It has been my experience that all animals (and people for that matter), go to what some call Heaven, regardless of how they transition.

In researching this topic for you, I consulted my spirit guides who said all spirits, whether they be a one-celled amoeba, animal, or anthropoid, transition from their form in our reality, back to pure energy, what I call spirit.

That’s why our deceased pets’ spirits are present when we’re transitioning, (see my Twelve Phases of Transition®), and show themselves to me when they’re in Heaven with their human loved ones.

Furthermore, my guides have often told me all spirits choose what they want to experience in each lifetime and expand with each incarnation. This applies to animals too.

It’s like how we really don’t grasp something until we experience it. Think of when you were learning to drive a car. You could read something instructional or watch a how-to-drive movie, and you could even watch someone else drive, but you didn’t really “get” it until you were actually doing the driving yourself.

Lastly, although it’s unfathomable for us to understand why any animal would want to be slaughtered, it’s feasible that an animal’s mission in a lifetime may be to solely provide food and warmth to others.

Hope that clarifies things for you.

Dog’s Cancerous Tumor

Vic from Apex, NC, asked:

Hi Julie,

I have a very sick pet named Miles who is dear to me and has a cancerous tumor.

I’m trying to save him and feel very conflicted. I’m very, very, upset and don’t have the clarity needed to deal with this situation.

Time is of the essence so I appreciate any guidance you can offer me even if it means I send him to Heaven.

I don’t know what to do and don’t want to make the wrong decision. My friend told me that you could assist me.

Please help Julie.

Warm regards,

Vic

Hi Vic,

So sorry to hear about Miles.

To get some guidance for you, I first energetically connected to you and then from you to Miles.

At the end of life, humans’ and animals’ spirits exit the top of the head and stay attached in a bubble configuration. Looks like a speech bubble.

Energetic healing only happens when the spirit is inside the body. At this moment, Miles’ spirit is in his body which means he isn’t dying.

With that in mind, I asked Miles the following questions:

Are you ready to go? He said, “Not quite yet”.

Are you in pain? He said, “At times, but it isn’t unbearable”.

Do you want to be euthanized? He said “Eventually”.

Lastly, I asked Miles how he’d let you know when he wanted to go to Heaven. He replied, “When I stop eating and drinking and sleep most of the time.”

Miles also told me he did not want cancer treatment.

Hope this information helps you enjoy the time you have left with your beloved pet.

Did He Know He Was Dying?

Jan from Kilkenny, Ireland, asked:

Hi Julie,

I am American but I live in Ireland, where I met my partner, the love of my life, my heart, my home. If ever there was a definition of soulmates and kindred spirits, it was us.

In November, 2021, my love had what we thought was pneumonia, but he was young, strong, fit, and ignored it, said he felt fine, and wanted nothing to do with doctors.

I eventually got him seen and several different doctors confirmed a pneumonia diagnosis. Unfortunately, they were all wrong. Turns out he had a very rare form of lung cancer.

The doctors told me 80% of patients with this illness could be treated with molecular-targeted chemo. Again, they were mistaken and he died ten days later.

Can you tell me, when did his soul know he wasn’t going to make it, when did he consciously know, and how did I miss it?

He asked me if I thought he had cancer, and I said, “No, but you do have a very serious life-threatening illness”. I didn’t tell him when the test results came back. I was scared, I didn’t know what to do, I wanted us to hope.

Is he angry at me and will he ever forgive me for not telling him?

Thanks.

Jan

Hi Jan,

I’m so sorry to hear about your soulmate and extend my sincere condolences.

Please know, we all (that is, our spirits) decide when, where, how, and with whom we die. Ask any hospice or end-of-life medical provider or caregiver and they’ll have countless stories about a loved one or patient waiting until someone arrives or leaves before taking their last breath.

To get some answers to your questions, I first energetically connected to you and from you to your honey’s spirit. Here’s what he “told” me (telepathically) …

He said he consciously knew about a week before he passed that he was dying. He said his soul knew before his first symptoms appeared, and he said you weren’t supposed to know because he needed and wanted you right there with him.

As for him forgiving you, he said there wasn’t anything to forgive. He said until the end, you were the best partner he could’ve ever imagined.

He also wants you to know he’s always around you and suggests you keep a bouquet of yellow flowers to remind you of him. He showed me a vase of yellow daffodils in the spring, yellow iris and/or lilies in the summer, and yellow roses and silk flowers in the winter.

He was so specific about yellow flowers that I researched their symbolism. Among other things, yellow flowers are used to honor loved ones after they have passed. Thought that was spot on!

Although your love’s passing won’t ever make sense to you, I hope this information helps you heal.

Please consider reading my Angelic Attendants: What Really Happens As We Transition From This Life Into the Next book. I believe it will comfort you.

Questions About Dying Process

Meg from London, England, asked:

Dear Julie,

After reading your Angelic Attendants: What Really Happens As We Transition From This Life Into The Next book, I have two questions I’d like to ask you please:

1) If someone wasn’t in contact nor on good terms with a parent, would that parent still show up in the horseshoe formation at the time of death of their son or daughter?

2) If an accident happens, leaving someone brain dead, but still looked after in hospital with a breathing machine, would that ‘horseshoe formation’ be present immediately after the fall, or would ‘all beings’ wait for the moment the breathing machine would be stopped in hospital, i.e. when the ‘official’ time of death takes place ?

Many thanks for your clarification on these two queries.

Have a great day.

With white light,

Meg

Hi Meg,

Thanks for reading Angelic Attendants and for your questions.

Deceased parents and/or maternal grandparents are always present when someone is in the dying process even if they didn’t have a good relationship with the person when they were alive.

Now, before you get too far with this concept, it’s important to remember that all spirits are pure love and negative personality traits stay with the body when someone dies.

Regarding what happens when someone is “brain dead” and on a ventilator (breathing machine), the Twelve Phases of Transition® begin when the person enters the dying process. That’s when their spirit exits the body and holds on to the top of the head in a speech bubble configuration. The Twelve Phases then continue to unfold as the person gets closer to exiting.

Phase Twelve is when someone’s body and spirit separate and angels escort the person’s spirit to Heaven.

It has been my experience in working with thousands of people and their families at the end of life that we all go through the Twelve Phases of Transition®. It can happen instantly like in the case of a homicide or suicide or it can unfold over days, weeks, months and has the ability to add a glorious component to what can be a heart wrenching experience.

Hope this answers your questions and comforts you.

Angels Escorted Little Boy

Wendi from O’Fallon, MO, asked:

Hi Julie,

I heard your wonderful podcast with Dave Asprey and I would love a copy of your Angelic Attendants book.

My 3-year-old son died from a medication error during his surgery. He went into cardiac arrest on the operating room table and suffered devastating strokes from the lack of oxygen to his brain.

We spent a week in the hospital trying to control the brain swelling, but to no avail. He herniated and was declared brain dead.

I was left with so much pain, anger, questions, sorrow, guilt, and devastation.

There is so much I want to say here but I’ll just say knowing that he left with my grandparents and angels gives me some comfort and peace.  And I pray that his time in the OR and ICU were pain free and he is now at peace with the angels!

Thanks for any input you can share.

Wendi

Hi Wendi,

Oh my goodness, my condolences to you and your family.

Please know your son was surrounded by angels and the sprits of deceased loved ones and pets as he transitioned. We all are.

In fact, university-based research shows close to 90% of people see the spirits of their deceased loved ones and pets in dreams and visions in the days and months preceding death.

To get some information for you, I telepathically communicated with your little boy’s spirit. He said, “Mommy, I can see you through my telescope,” and showed me a scene of him looking through an old-fashioned, nautical telescope once used by ship captains.

Does that mean anything to you? Did your son pretend to be a pirate or captain of a ship?

His message may just be to convey he’s playing happily in Heaven. Hope this information comforts you.

Lastly, please visit Helping Parent Heal. It’s a wonderful organization that has helped comfort countless families and I believe you’d greatly benefit from their programs.
